Pilot Activities at LMS/MA
The ShakeAM project successfully conducted two pilot activities in Greece, providing critical feedback on the implementation of its Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) Digital Ecosystem. Organized by the Greek partners, MakeAmazing (MA) and the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation (LMS), the pilots tested ShakeAM innovative tools and methodologies with participants from educational and industrial backgrounds.
The first pilot session, held on June 4, 2024, at the Lino3D premises in Athens, featured 14 participants divided into two back-to-back sessions. Each session included an introduction to ShakeAM objectives, a virtual tour of the ecosystem via the AGORA and Skills.move platforms, and a live demonstration of practical exercises. Participants explored the creation of a mini drone frame using state-of-the-art design tools and witnessed various industrial additive manufacturing processes during a guided tour of the premises. The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in discussions and a Q&A segment to conclude the event. The second pilot session took place at the Lixouri Technical School of Kefalonia and featured 12 participants. This session built on the feedback from the first pilot and showcased improvements to the ShakeAM ecosystem, particularly the migration of content to the newly launched EIT Manufacturing Academy platform. Participants explored enhanced features of the ecosystem and provided additional feedback to ensure the tools met the needs of diverse learners. Feedback from both pilot sessions was overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised the organization, speaker expertise, and the relevance of the content. They found the training exercises engaging and appreciated the opportunity to explore advanced design methods. However, some noted the limited capacity of the venue and expressed a desire for longer sessions to delve deeper into the material. These insights will inform future iterations of the ShakeAM ecosystem and its training modules. The Greek pilots demonstrated the effectiveness of ShakeAM methodologies in advancing education and training for additive manufacturing. By addressing participant feedback and refining its tools, the project continues to pave the way for a more inclusive and innovative approach to DfAM education across Europe. Stay tuned for more updates as ShakeAM expands its reach and impact!
